Felicia Todd

Felicia's love for dancing began when she was just 2 years old in Panama City, Panama when her Grandmother enrolled her in tap and ballet classes. Her passion for performance was evident early. Later she added Panamanian folk dance, jazz and synchronized swimming classes to her busy schedule. She continued dancing throughout Panama until the age of 17. She then left Panama for St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York as an accomplished dancer and swimmer.

Upon arrival in New York City, Felicia had a limited knowledge of the English language but was fluent in the universal language of movement. She continued taking Jazz and Tap and added African Dance and Hip-Hop classes to escape from a world where she barely understood half of what was spoken. Her first year at St. Francis was challenging, but she was able to adapt to life and language in the US quickly with the aid of her mother and her dancing.

In 1995, Felicia graduated St. Francis College fluent in English, French and Spanish. She commenced her search to incorporate her degree of Business Management with her passion for dance. In the fall of 1995, her prayers were answered and Felicia landed a job as a teacher and choreographer with April's Dance & Feet in Brooklyn, New York. Felicia worked with children ages 2-17 in the dances of jazz, tap and hip-hop. Felicia had dreamed this life; she mentored young dancers, developed choreography, and often made cameo appearances in the school's productions but something was missing.

During her college career, Felicia was a member of the Caribbean Society. The Caribbean Society's parties were always full of Soca, Salsa, Merengue and Reggae. She used all these forms of dance to keep in touch with her roots. Now that she is out of college, the clave in her life was missing. She was passing La Mega on the radio when it came to her, "Perhaps we'll take a Salsa class." It was as simple as that! Three years out of college, in 1998, walked into a Razz M Tazz Salsa workshop and began a journey in dance that has yet to be stopped. Of course, being a Latina, she'd danced salsa her entire life but never imagined taking a class. Salsa became her new passion. It was the first new dance form she'd taken in years and her excitement and love for the dance was immediate. It wasn't too long before she became an instructor and social performer within the Razz M Tazz system.

After 2 years with Razz M Tazz, Felicia was invited to dance with the Mambo Mamas and anxiously awaits her first performance. Felicia currently studies Salsa, Belly dancing, Hip Hop, African Dance and hopes to soon add Tap. She believes her grace and ability to fuse all of her different dance backgrounds will differentiate her from the crowd of dancers.

According to Felicia - "Dancing relaxes me. I hear a song that moves me and my head fills up with ideas of people moving, swaying and leaping. Life's stresses fade away to the sound of a drum."
